Billed as an Australian comedy crime caper, this movie is anything but. This movie is more Midnight Express than Pineapple Express and even though there are a few comedic moments, this is much more of a serious drama than advertised. That being said, it’s a really good movie and I found myself absorbed into the well-written story about a hapless young man whose first time smuggling drugs from Bangkok turns into anything but an easy trip. John Noble and Hugo Weaving are great as usual but the standout performance is Angus Sampson whose lead performance is so endearing that you can’t help but root and care for him to win.
Recommend? Absolutely, but don’t go in thinking it’s going to be hilarious.
