A surprisingly effective horror film that really uses the found footage aspect to it’s advantage for once.  The Houses October Built looks at the scare house culture while also weaving an interesting story to follow.  As a group of friends get together to cross the country looking for the best haunted house attractions they’re also unknowingly being followed by a group that looks to take things beyond just scares.  The haunted house scenes are so much fun and interviews with real house workers are smartly used.

Recommend? By the end you pretty much know how it all will unfold but the ride to get there is really fun.
