Tommy Lee Jones has quietly carved out a very nice directorial career for himself and continues that with a very good and very understated movie. A tale of frontier life and the hardships that befell those living on the edges of society. Hilary Swank really has a chance to shine here as a woman tasked with transporting three mentally ill women across the unforgiving Western frontier. Westerns always have a chance to show sweeping portraits and vast landscapes which are beautiful and also remind us of just how majestic this country can be. A strong showing and a solid western film.
Recommend? More for western fans than a mainstream audience, you know what camp you fall in.
