Want to see a movie where pretty much every depressing thing happens to one person?  Then watch this 2001 effort from director Lasse Hallstrom and star Kevin Spacey.  Pretty much from the beginning you know you’re in for some pretty sad stuff and it continues all the way to the end save for one ridiculous twist at the end.  The mythology of the film is somewhat interesting but even that comes at a price.  A movie I’m sure that was thought to be an awards contender just devolves into one awful thing after another and Spacey plays his part so meekly it’s hard to ever root for him.

Recommend? Halfway through I gave up on any sort of levity so if that’s your thing then this is your movie.
